National best Fisherman appeals to President Mahama

National best Fisherman appeals to President Mahama

Mr Kwamena Obo, 2012 National Best Fisherman Award Winner, has made a passionate plea to President John Dramani Mahama to intercede on his behalf to claim the Double-Decker Pick-up awarded him during the National Farmers Day Celebrations.

Speaking to the press at Munford in the Gomoa West District, Mr Obo said since he won the award on November 2, 2012, at Abokobi, in the Greater Accra Region, he has not received the prize.

According to him all efforts made to claim the vehicle from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) and the National Award Planning Committee have proved futile for the past seven Months.

Mr Obo, said when he called on Mr William Agyei-Manu, Coordinator of the National Award Planning Committee in his office in Accra, he told him that the transfer of ownership of the vehicle has not been completed.

He said a report has been made to the new Minister of Fisheries about the delay.

Mr Obo said he believes the intervention of President Mahama would help resolve the problem.

When GNA contacted Ms Evelyn Opare, Gomoa West Director of Food and Agriculture, (MOFA) she confirmed that Mr Obo has not received his award.

She said about two months ago, Mr Theophilus Adu Mensah, Gomoa West District Chief Executive (DCE) sent her to Accra on the matter and she was told that documentation on the vehicle was not ready.

According to her, Mr Agyei-Manu assured that when the document is ready the vehicle would be sent to the Regional Office of MOFA in Cape Coast to be presented to Mr Obo.
