Kotoko, Arsenals and Aduana banished from home.
League leaders Kumasi Asante
Kotoko, relegation threatened Berekum Arsenals and enterprising Aduana Stars
have all been handed temporary bans from their home grounds following fan
violence.
With four games to end the
league season, the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association says
it took the decisions is in accordance with Article 15 (2) of the GFA
Regulations and has consequently directed the Professional League Board to
determine the venue for the subsequent home matches of the affected clubs.
Arsenals suffered the ban
from using the Golden City Park for the rest of the Glo Premier League season
"following the unfortunate incident which resulted in the physical assault
of some Kotoko players, Security personnel, Cameraman of the GFA and the
Assistant Referee II by the supporters of Arsenals," a GFA statement said.
"The Yutong Bus of
Asante Kotoko and the pick-up vehicle No. GP 3586, which belongs to Ghana
Police Service, were vandalized by supporters of Arsenals during the GLO
Premier League match between Arsenal and Asante Kotoko played on 12th May,
2013," the statement categorized as a damage caused in that instance.
Aduana's crime which has
resulted in their ban from the Agyemang Badu Park at Dormaa Ahenkro follows
"the unfortunate incident which resulted in the physical assault of the
Referee by supporters of Aduana FC during the GLO Premier League match between
Aduana and Liberty Professionals played on 12th May, 2013."
In the case of Asante
Kotoko, the GFA said the ban became necessary "in view of the unfortunate
incident of throwing of objects at the Match Officials during and after the
match which resulted in the injury of the Assistant Referee 1, A. S. Malik and
the damage to the bus of Medeama SC. by supporters of Asante Kotoko during the
GLO Premier League Match between Asante Kotoko and Medeama played on 8th May,
2013 at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi."
The decisions are without
prejudice to a determination of the cases by the Disciplinary Committee.
