Kumasi to get CCTV cameras to monitor criminal activities

The Ashanti regional capital city of Kumasi will soon see the installation of CCTV cameras at the key locations as part of moves to deal with the recent hike in crime levels in the city.

For the past few months, several killings and armed robbery cases have dominated the news headlines bith in and around the Ashanti region.

Residents in Kumasi, according to reports live in fear due to a recent spike in the crime levels in the area.

In an address to the Assembly in Kumasi, the Mayor of the Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu, indicated that as part of measures needed to provide safety and security to the people in the metropolis, he would work to procure and install CCTV cameras in the city to facilitate the monitoring of criminal activities.

He also added that members of the Metro Security Committee and other selected heads of Departments would be provided with walkie talkies to enhance communication needed to promote the cause.
