Muntari fined €10,000; suspended for two matches
Black Stars and AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari has received a two-game suspension and a €10,000 fine following a red card received in a Serie A game against AS Roma which ended goalless last Sunday.
Muntari was dismissed shortly before half-time for physically restraining referee Gianluca Rocchi
as he attempted to book the Ghanaian for dissent. His reaction was
towards Balotelli’s booking by referee Rocchi for a late tackle but that
went off board and instead got him sent off for manhandling the
referee.
The Ghanaian has thus been fined €10,000 for
his bizarre action on the field and suspended for two Milan games. This
implies Muntari will miss Milan’s final game of the 2012/13 season away
to Siena next Sunday as well as the first match for Milan next season.
In
related news, Roma’s Captain Francesco Totti who also was dismissed for
a nasty elbow against Milan defender Philippe Mexes in injury time has
been suspended for one match.
