Paris Saint-Germain-Barcelona Betting Preview: Why the price for a Catalan win is too good to resist.
Our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides argues that when Barca are offered at 3/4 to win a game, it is a price that should always be invested in
Barcelona make the short trip to Paris on Tuesday, to take on a Paris Saint-Germain side in the quarte- finals of the Champions League for the first time in nearly two decades.
That the French team have reached the last eight of the world's greatest club competition is down largely to the stunning Qatari investment which has been forthcoming over the past two seasons, and the owners of the club would surely be delighted to see their new project progress.
Paddy Power offer odds of 4/1 (5.00) on a victory for Carlo Ancelotti's men tonight, while the draw is available at 13/5 (3.60).
However, regular punters in the Spanish leagues will be aware that it is difficult to ignore the price of 3/4 (1.75) for Barcelona.
This is roughly what Barca have been offered when they have faced Real Madrid recently, and with respect to PSG, they are not quite at the level of Madrid yet.
Though the French side have been capable of playing some exciting football, and proved effective if not brilliant in the previous round against Valencia, Barca will surely be too strong for them.
At the price offered it is almost impossible not to invest in the Catalans, because of the genuine value offered.
Put simply, Barca for 95 per cent of the season are offered at odds roughly half of the price for a win tonight.
Furthermore the Blaugrana rested the likes of Villa, Iniesta and Busquets at the weekend, with those three key players only featuring at the end of their match against Celta Vigo.
Those searching for a value bet, might like the look of the price of 3/1 (4.00) for both teams to score in the first half.
Given the attacking talents on display for either side, this should be an encounter with goals and with this bet paying out in three of Barca's last five away games, it could well offer punters some extremely healthy returns.
