Government pays Black Satellites Players $10,500 each. The News Ghana can confirm that Government has paid an amount of $10,500 to each player of the Black Satellites of Ghana after they won silver at the just ended African Youth Championship in Algeria. Each player was promised an amount of $7,500 dollars after qualifying to the world Cup in Turkey and $3,000 for winning the Semi Finals game against Mali on penalties. The payment thus represents the full payment of the bonuses due the Satellites. All the 21 players who took part in the just ended African Youth Championship each received the money yesterday when a delegation from the ministry visited the team at the M Plaza Hotel. Team captain Lawrence Lartey confirmed the payments in an interview with thenewsghana.blogspot.com, noting that money was not the focus of the team, but rather a will to do something for Ghana. “We are happy they have given us the money. It was not about the money though. We want to do something for Ghana, and that is why we played very well, but this money has come at the right time after the minister promised us when we arrived on Wednesday at the Kotoka International airport.”
