Michael Essien will make his first appearance of the season for Chelsea on Tuesday when they on Swindon in the Capital One Cup.
The Ghana midfield supremo has not played in any competitive game for the club since returning from loan with Real Madrid.
He was not named even in Chelsea’s Champions League squad even though he was in excellent form for Ghana when they played Zambia in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers this month.
Essien’s plight sparked worries among Ghana and Chelsea fans but it has now been revealed he will play his first match for the club on Tuesday.
Those on the periphery of the Chelsea sqaud who will play at Swindon, include David Luiz, Essien, Cesar Azpilicueta and Ryan Bertrand.
The likes of Oscar, Mourinho’s favoured playmaker, and Ashley Cole rest ahead of Saturday’s London derby with Tottenham.
Essien return to action is a welcome news for Ghana as his return to action for Chelsea will boost his form for the Black Stars.
